Liver disease, cirrhosis and portal hypertension can be complicated by pulmonary vascular
disease, which may affect prognosis and influence liver transplantation (LT) candidacy.
Pulmonary vascular complications comprise hepatopulmonary syndrome (HPS) and
portopulmonary hypertension (POPH).
International Registry for Pulmonary Vascular Complications of Liver Disease
Project recruiting
Aims
This ‘International Registry for Pulmonary Vascular Complications of Liver Disease’ aims to
gather information on the natural history, risk factors and long-term survival of HPS and POPH,
and aims to map differences in clinical management, including transplantation, and their impact
on survival of patients with HPS and POPH.
Ultimately, this collaborative project aims to
uniform patient care and allocation strategies for HPS and POPH on a global level.
